REFUND POLICY


Refunds are issued if SCM is notified 7 days or more before the Start Date of the event. There is a $7.00 cancellation fee. The refund amount will be the price of the event minus the $7.00 cancellation fee. If the payment was by PayPal, their processing fee is not refunded (sorry). If your notification is sent AFTER the 7 day mark, a refund/credit will NOT be issued.

How Do I Get a Refund? Fill out the form below. Within minutes, you will receive an email. Store it in a safe place. This is your confirmation that your request was sent 7 days before the date of the event. We process refunds twice a month.

Why the "7 Day" rule? To plan the logistics of an event (staff, materials, male/female ratio), we need to know the minimum guest count in advance. If another business is involved (restaurant, caterer, instructor, room rental), 7 days is when SCM guarantees the number of guests (we promise to pay for these spots). And finally, it keeps SCM costs down. SCM's membership is free. The more time required to administer refunds, the more SCM must pay someone to do it.

Can I Get a Credit Towards Another Event? Credits are like full refunds in that SCM has paid for a person's spot once (the 1st event) and if a credit is issued, SCM pays for that spot again (at the 2nd event). So like refunds, we can not issue credits. We also don't have the manpower to track credits (when they have been issued, to whom, etc).

"No Refund" Events Occasionally there will be an event that does not provide cancellations or refunds. These are usually for large parties and it is specified in the event's description.

"Can an exception be made for me?" We have to treat all members equally. We can not make exceptions for a few without extending it to the whole group. In the case that your reason for cancelling is out of your control (illness, family emergency), we will accept someone attending in your place. Find a friend/co-worker who would like to go, work out your payment arrangement with the person and then email us your replacement's full name within a few hours of the event's start date (so that we can adjust the Guest List). As of right now, SCM does not maintain a waiting list (if we did, we would have to pay someone extra to manage it). Thank you!
